abstract | The invention relates to transgenic photosynthetic organisms having an expanded absorption spectrum and nitrogen autotrophy, which are optionally salt-resistant and/or able to separate silicate from the medium and/or have an increased hydrocarbon content. The invention further relates to the use thereof for extracting biofuels and biomass containing nitrogen, particularly for providing human beings and animals with essential amino acids, for the sequestration of CO2 from the atmosphere, for extracting sugars, polyalkoxy compounds, paper, paperboard, corrugated cardboard, pulp, cardboard, or cotton, fuels, propellants, or lubricants, and foodstuffs for animals and human beings, for improving poor soil, for processing waste water, for the expression of useful proteins, for breaking down hydrophobic impurities in natural habitats, for fighting mosquitoes, and for emissions protection. |
