abstract A photoinitiator compound and a method for preparing same is described. The photoinitiator compound is of formula O X A1 Q Y S O O x I wherein: X represents a halogen atom; Y represents an alkylyl or alkenylyl moiety; A1 represents a group which includes a -O- moiety; Q represents a linking atom or group; and x represents a number greater than 1, wherein moieties bonded to linking atom or group Q may be the same or different to one another. The photoinitiator may be used in combination with a polymerisable material and an amine synergist.
