The object is to provide an external preparation for the skin, which comprises a benzotriazole derivative and a metal oxide, which is prevented from the discoloration with elapse of time to keep its appearance, and which is prevented from the deterioration in ultraviolet ray absorption effect due to the discoloration to exhibit a highly sustained protective effect against ultraviolet ray.
