abstract The present invention relates to pectin and/or pectin fractions that can be obtained using pectin and/or pectin-containing plant tissues with one or more enzymes selected from the group consisting of : cellulase, hemicellulase, pectinase (Pgase), pectin-lyase (Pg lyase), pectin methyl esterase, polygalacturonase, acetyl esterase, rhamnogalacturonane hydrolase and lyase, galactanase, arabinanase, xylogalacturonane hydrolase and mixtures thereof, associated with an intracorporeal medical device for use as anti-inflammatory agents. The invention also relates to a medical device, particularly stents, catheters, balloons and artificial vessels that are either coated or functionalized with pectin or fractions thereof having anti- inflammatory activity capable of preventing and reducing the restenosis pathology that occurs after angioplasty operations.
