abstract The invention relates to a transparent filtering element for preventing damage to healthy eyes and for the treatment and prophylaxis of eyes which are pseudo-aphakic and/or show macular or retinal degeneration. The invention is characterised in that the element is produced by applying a filter with a yellow pigmentation onto the transparent or translucid surface(s) of protective glasses, in order to protect the eyes from the short wavelengths of the visible spectrum (between 500 and 380 nm). The invention can be used, for example, in occupations wherein the person is exposed to high light intensities (fishermen, welders) or for sport (scuba diving, tennis, ski...). The invention is compatible with other treatments.
