titleOfInvention Pharmaceutical compositions combining a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent and a xanthine oxidase inhibiting agent, which can be used to control and treat gout, gouty arthritis and related diseases
abstract The invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising the synergic combination of a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent known as meloxicam or celecoxib and a xanthine oxidase inhibiting agent know as allopurinol, as well as pharmaceutically acceptable excipients, which are formulated in a single dosage unit to be administered orally. The compositions, which are used to control and treat gouty disease or gout, gouty arthritis and other related diseases, provide an improved therapeutic effect and faster pharmacological action in less time, reducing pain, inflammation and plasma urate levels, as well as providing reductions in the doses administered, the risk of severe complications and the risk of side effects.
