abstract The present invention provides a method for differentiating in a subject the presence of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) of the breast, benign breast fibroadenoma and non-cancerous breast tissue. The method consists in measuring the concentration of at least one protein biomarker selected from a group of forty-nine proteins differentially expressed in the saliva of people with DCIS or benign fibroadenoma or in individuals who are not affected. of a cancer. The test data obtained is compared to a reference group. On the basis of the comparison, the presence of ductal carcinoma in situ of the breast or of a benign breast fibroadenoma is determined in the subject.
