abstract A method of hydrogen production can include providing a composition, that contains at least one hydrogen displacing element and has a passivating layer; contacting the composition with water; exposing the composition in contact with the water to an ultrasonic action in a presence of a soniĻƒation enhancer, so that the exposing activates the composition by reducing the passivating layer and therein the activated composition reacts with the water to generate a hydrogen gas; and collecting the generated hydrogen gas. The composition can comprise aluminum.
