abstract A nanomotor propulsion system includes a nanoparticle load attached to at least one carbon nanotube and a source of electromagnetic radiation. When electromagnetic radiation is provided with sufficient intensity, combustion of the carbon nanotube provides thrust to move the nanoparticle load. The electromagnetic radiation source can be a laser. The carbon nanotubes can be single, double, multiwall or any combination thereof and can contain or be decorated with at least one combustion initiator.
