An evaporator (10) has an evaporator core (12) comprising, superposed on each other, at least a first row and a second row (42, 44, 46) extending in parallel planes, each being made up of a series of tubes or plates carrying a refrigerant which is to be evaporated so as to cool a stream of air (28) passing between the planes of the banks (42, 44, 46). Distribution means are connected to a fluid inlet (24) and to a fluid outlet (26) and define a movement of fluid in a given direction for each pipe. An additional bank (18) is positioned adjacent to the evaporator core (12) and receives the fluid after it has travelled through the evaporator core (12) to deliver it to the fluid outlet (26). The evaporator is particularly suitable for refrigerants composed of azeotropic or zeotropic mixtures of different fluids. |
