abstract The present invention provides Bacillus thuringiensis strain, cry8H genes, proteins, which are all highly toxic to order coleoptera insect pests, and uses thereof. SEQ ID NO 1 shows a nucleotide sequence of cry8H gene that has high toxicity to order coleoptera pests. Another nucleotide sequence of cry8H gene, which is artificially designed and synthesized and can be expressed in plant, is shown by SEQ ID NO 3. A transgenic plant transformed with the artificially designed cry8H gene has pesticidal activity against Holotrichia oblita, Anomala corpulenta and Holotrichia parallela.
