Pedestrian sign, system of pedestrian signs and method of use |
abstract |
A pedestrian sign (1100) is described that can provide clear directions to many destinations. The sign has a rotating direction indicator (1108) that can be controlled to directly indicate the direction to any of a number of destinations. A user can clearly understand the direction, without needing to interpret a map. More than one rotational direction indicator (1108) can be provided if the sign is required to indicate more than one direction simultaneously. The rotational movement means that they will not interfere with each other. The rotational direction indicator may incorporate a display device (1110), so that the destination indicated can be clearly understood. In one embodiment the display device is an electrophoretic display. A system of signs is also described which can work together to guide a user to their desired destination, as a method of guiding a user using the system of signs. The route is provided from one sign to the next sign in the system towards the destination. The identification of the user may be stored so that subsequent signs on the route recognise them and re-entry of destination is not required. The identification may use radio devices, such as a Bluetooth radio device. A rotational direction indicator for a sign is also described. The rotational direction indicator has a shaft with a connector at each end, enabling several rotational direction indicators to be stacked in a single sign. |
