The invention relates to polynucleotides from Pythium irregulare, Rhizobium oryzae and Euglena gracilis which code elongases and which can be used for the recombinant production of polyunsaturated fatty acids. The invention also relates to vectors, host cells and transgenic non-human organisms that contain said inventive polynucleotides, and also the polypeptides coded by said polynucleotides. The invention further relates to anti-bodies against said inventive polypeptides. Finally, the invention relates to production methods for polyunsaturated fatty acids, for oil, lipid and fatty acid compositions and to the use thereof as medicaments, cosmetics, food, animal food in particularly fish food or food supplements. |
