titleOfInvention Novel method of synthesizing fenofibrate
abstract The present invention relates to a novel method for synthesizing fenofibrate. This method is essentially characterized in that it comprises reacting, in a solvent system constituted of a mixture of dimethyl sulphoxide and of a C2-C4 alkyl acetate, a metal salt of fenofibric acid with an isopropyl halide. This method can be used on the industrial scale and makes it possible to obtain a fenofibrate having a quality in accordance with the pharmacopeia without the need for purification by recrystallization.
