This invention relates to novel substituted tetrahydrotriazolopyrazines of formula (I) and their derivatives, pharmaceutically acceptable salts, solvates, and hydrates thereof. This invention also provides compositions comprising a compound of this invention and the use of such compositions in methods of treating diseases and conditions that are beneficially treated by administering an enzyme inhibitor of dipeptidyl -peptidase IV (DPP-IV) wherein each Y variable is independently hydrogen or deuterium; each Z variable is independently hydrogen or deuterium; R1 is a phenyl ring substituted with zero to three fluoro and zero to five deuterium groups; R2 is CF3, Cl, CH2D, CHD2, or CD3; with the proviso that if each Y and Z variable is hydrogen and R1 has zero deuterium, then R2 comprises a deuterium atom. |
