abstract The invention relates to the use of at least one hydroxylamine as an agent for destroying hydrophilic polymers in the form of hydrogels or aqueous suspensions of hydrogels, said hydroxylamine having general formula (I), in which: R<SUP>1</SUP> and R<SUP>2</SUP> each represent independently of each other an alkyl radical at C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>8</SUB>, an alkyl radical at C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>16</SUB> substituted by at least one hydroxyl, aryl, aralkyl or alkaryl radical, wherein either R<SUP>1</SUP> or R<SUP>2</SUP> can also represent hydrogen. The invention also relates to the corresonding method for destroying hydrophilic polymers in the form of hydrogels or aqueous suspensions of hydrogels.
