abstract According to the invention, a DNA encoding phenylalanine aminomutase with selectivity for S-form is acquired and (S)-β-phenylalanine is produced from L-phenylalanine or cinnamic acid and ammonia using a transformant containing the DNA. Further, according to the invention, a DNA encoding phenylalanine aminomutase with selectivity for S-form is acquired and an (S)-β-phenylalanine analog is produced from a corresponding L-phenylalanine analog using a transformant containing the DNA.
