abstract Disclosed is a therapeutic agent for liver cancer or a cancer metastasis suppressor which comprising rifampicin or a derivative thereof as an active ingredient. An extensive study was made for the purpose of developing a therapeutic agent for liver cancer. As a consequence, it is found that rifampicin or a derivative thereof has a therapeutic effect on liver cancer, particularly metastatic liver cancer. Rifampicin or a derivative thereof has an activity of suppressing the proliferation of cancer metastasized to the liver and the invasion the cancer into a liver tissue, and has a therapeutic effect on metastatic liver cancer.
