A sustained release formulation containing tamsulosin, which comprises an effective amount of tamsulosin or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, 10-50% (w/w) hydrophobic cellulose as a release modulator, 10-30% (w/w) circular particle forming agent, and 30-50% (w/w) diluent. The sustained release formulation can release less than 5% tamsulosin or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in the initial 2 hours in dissolution test in vitro.
