abstract A blank (1) serves for the manufacturing of a valve seal (22) for a trocar having an enlarged section for accommodating at least a part of the valve seal (22). The blank (1) has a tubular neck part (2) defined by a first circumferential wall (3), an instrument leaving end (6) and an opposing instrument receiving end (4). The instrument receiving (4) end is provided with a first diaphragm valve (5) and a circumferential flange (7) via which the tubular neck part (2) extends in an axial direction into a tubular head part (8) defined by a second circumferential wall (9). Said tubular head part (8) has an interior diameter which is greater than the exterior diameter of the tubular neck part (2). The tubular head part (8) is turned inside out to make a valve seal (22). The valve seal is suitable for trocars with cannulas of various diameters.
