titleOfInvention Process for coating a substrate with a coating
abstract The present invention pertains to a process for coating a substrate comprising the steps of o providing a substrate the outer layer of which comprises an electroheat- susceptible material o applying a powder coating composition onto the substrate o curing the powder coating composition using electroheat radiation. The electroheat-susceptible material may be a microwave-susceptible material with the curing being effected using microwave radiation. It may also be a radio frequency-susceptible material, in which case the curing is effected using radio frequency radiation. The substrate may be provided with an outer layer which comprises an electroheat-susceptible material by contacting the substrate with a primer comprising an electroheat-susceptible material or by coating the inside of a mould with a primer layer, filling the mould with a curable resin that will form the substrate, curing the resin, and releasing the substrate the outer layer of which comprises an electroheat-susceptible material from the mould. The process is particular suitable for coating heat-senstive substrates, where it will allow electroheat curing of conventional powder coating compositions.
