titleOfInvention Medical device capable of releasing no
abstract The present invention relates to the introducer sheath equipment used during the Seldinger technique and related surgical techniques. The introducer sheaths or parts thereof comprise reactive nitrogen adducts which release reactive nitrogen species such as nitric oxide and nitroxyl during use for the prevention of mechanically induced vasospasm. The introducer sheaths are particularly useful for entry via access other than the femoral artery, such as via transradial access. In a preferred embodiement, the sheaths are coated with a linear' poly (ethyleneimine) diazeniumdiolate (L-PEI-NONO) embedded in polyurethane (PU).
