A toluene selective disproportionation catalyst comprises: a) 45-95wt% ZSM-5 molecular sieve with average particle diameter of 0.3-6 micron and SiO2/Al2O3 mole ratio of 20-120; b) 0.01-30wt% at least one metal or oxide thereof selected from the group consisting of group ? B, group ? B, rare earth, and group ? other than Ni of periodic table of elements; c) 0-20wt% at least one metal or oxide thereof selected from the group consisting of group ? A, group ? B or alkaline earth metal of periodic table of elements; d) 1-25wt% inert face coating of silica derived from organopolysiloxane; and e) 1-50wt% binder. A method for toluene selective disproportionated to paraxylene includes contacting the reactants comprising toluene with the catalyst under the condition for toluene selective disproportionation. |
