A process for producing a cordierite ceramic honeycomb filter which comprises the steps of inserting a blocking part made of a cordierite-forming raw material into each of given channels of a burned cordierite ceramic honeycomb structure having an outer diameter of 150 mm or larger, drying the blocking parts, and then burning the parts. It is characterized in that the burning step has a heating stage, a temperature-maintaining stage, and a cooling stage, and the heating stage has a heating rate of 70-500 °C/hr in heating from 800°C to a maximum holding temperature. |
