titleOfInvention | Plants with altered carbon allocation |
abstract | The present invention relates to compositions and methods for altering carbon allocation in plants. In particular, the present invention provides for the use of plants with altered carbon allocation in generating biofuels by modifying the carbon allocation in plants such that carbon is preferentially allocated into starch and soluble sugars in plant leaves in lieu of typical carbon sinks, thereby allowing the carbon to be more readily fermentable for use as biofuels. |
