A pyrimidine nucleoside compound represented by the following general formula (1): [Chemical formula 1] (1) [wherein one of X and Y represents cyano and the other represents hydrogen, provided that i) R1 represents hydrogen and R2 represents alkyloxycarbonyl whose alkyl moiety is a C5-12 linear or branched alkyl (the alkyl group may have a substituent) or ii) R1 represents alkyloxycarbonyl whose alkyl moiety is a C9 linear or branched alkyl or alkenyloxycarbonyl whose alkenyl moiety is a C9 linear or branched alkenyl and R2 represents hydrogen] or a salt of the compound. The pyrimidine nucleoside compound or salt thereof is superior in antitumor effect to existing pyrimidine nucleoside compounds. |
