titleOfInvention Control of the formation of double-stranded dna
abstract Disclosed is a method for increasing a melting temperature (Tm) of double-stranded DNA. Also disclosed is a reagent for use in the method. More specifically, disclosed is an agent for increasing a melting temperature (Tm) of a DNA molecule having a G-G sequence composed of two contiguous guanine (G) residues and also having a G-G mismatch and at least one other mismatch, which comprises a naphthyridine carbamate dimer derivative represented by the general formula (1): (1) wherein R1 and R2 independently represent a hydrogen atom or a group such as a hydrocarbon group; R represents an alkylene group; X represents an oxygen or sulfur atom; and R3 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, or a group represented by the general formula (2): (2) wherein R1 and R2 independently represent a hydrogen atom or a group such as a hydrocarbon group; R represents an alkylene group; X represents an oxygen or sulfur atom; and L represents a linker group for binding two nitrogen atoms together. Also disclosed is a method using the agent.
