Disclosed is a novel organic acid catalyst which enables to synthesize a polyhydroxycarboxylic acid by direct dehydration polycondensation of a hydroxycarboxylic acid such as L-lactic acid. Specifically disclosed is an organic acid catalyst for synthesizing a polyhydroxycarboxylic acid such as a poly-L-lactic acid, which catalyst is composed of an amine salt of a sulfonic acid or a phosphine salt of a sulfonic acid. |
