abstract The present invention relates to a method for diagnosing a risk of acute myocardial infarction, whereby the presence of a polymorphism in the ATP receptor P2Yn is determined, a method for reducing the risk of acute myocardial infarction, an active drug for this purpose, as well as a kit for diagnosing risk of acute myocardial infarction comprising a marker for polymorphism in the ATP receptor P2Y11. The Thr-87 polymorphism is shown to be of particular interest.
