Liquid crystal panel and liquid crystal display unit |
abstract |
A liquid crystal panel small in oblique-direction color shift even viewed from any directions through 360 deg., and wide in right and left viewing angles. The liquid crystal panel comprises a liquid crystal cell, a first polarizer disposed on one side of the liquid crystal cell, a second polarizer disposed on the other side of the liquid crystal cell, and first optical compensation layer and a second compensation layer disposed between the first polarizer and the second polarizer. The first optical compensation layer is disposed between the first polarizer and the liquid crystal cell, with its lagging phase direction substantially orthogonal to the absorption axis direction of the first polarizer and its index ellipsoid showing nx>ny≥nz. The first optical compensation layer contains polyvinyl acetal resin, and includes a phase difference film where Re[750] is larger than Re[550]. The second optical compensation layer is disposed between the first optical compensation layer and the second polarizer, with its index ellipsoid showing nx=ny>nz. |
