An acetabular implant (10) for hip replacement surgery includes a shell component (12) and first and second alternative bearing components (14,16) interchangeably engageable with the shell component (12) to provide a choice in bearing materials. The shell component (12) has an engagement mechanism suitable for locking engagement with the first alternative shell component (14). A conversion ring (80) is lockingly engageable with the shell component (12) to adapt the shell component (12) to provide an engagement mechanism suitable for locking engagement with the second alternative shell component (16). |
