A process for producing a honeycomb structure which comprises obtaining clay from cordierite-forming raw materials comprising an alumina source, a silica source, and a magnesia source and molding the clay into a honeycomb shape, wherein the alumina source, silica source, and magnesia source each has a volume particle size distribution in which the particle size at 50 vol.% (V50) [µm] is 1-25 µm. The cordierite-forming raw materials are ones which as a whole have a volume particle size distribution in which the proportion of the particle size at 90 vol.% (Vall90) [µm] to the particle size at 10 vol.% (Vall10) [µm] (volume particle size distribution ratio (Vall90/Vall10)) is 10 or lower, and the volume particle size distribution width (Vall90-Vall10) is 25 µm or smaller. |
