abstract | Disclosed is a method for producing flavan derivatives having various substituents, while controlling stereochemistry. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing a flavan derivative represented by the formula (V) below, which comprises a step wherein a phenol compound represented by the formula (I) and an alcohol compound represented by the formula (II) below are subjected to a dehydration condensation for forming an epoxide compound represented by the formula (III) below, then an epoxy group of the epoxide compound is ring-opened for forming an iodine compound represented by the formula (IV) below, and after that the iodine compound is cyclized for forming the flavan derivative represented by the formula (V) below. |
