abstract The invention features a method of inhibiting the progression of intima- media thickening, or reducing the intima-media thickness (IMT) in arteries in a patient in need thereof by administering to the patient a rifamycin in an amount effective to inhibit the progression of intima-media thickening, or reduce the IMT.
