titleOfInvention Endoscope system
abstract A lesion is optically detected in efficiently applying a fluorescent dye/probe for checking absence/presence of a lesion in a short time to an organism, and a sharp fluorescent image is captured. An endoscope system comprises agent ejecting means for ejecting a fluorescent agent combined with a specific substance in an object to be imaged or accumulated in the object, control means for controlling the agent ejecting means, a light source for emitting an exciting light for exciting the fluorescent agent and an illuminating light having a spectral characteristics different from those of the exciting light, an optical system for directing the exciting light and the illuminating light toward the object, and imaging means placed in a region of the body cavity and adapted to capture the fluorescence emitted from the object when illuminated with the exciting light and a light emitted from the object when illuminated with the illuminating light and having frequency in a different wavelength band. The control means controls the agent ejecting means so that the illuminating light is applied to the object before the fluorescent agent is ejected toward the object.
