Scleral cell strain |
abstract |
Disclosed is a scleral cell strain which can express an exogenous immortalized gene. Also disclosed is a method for production of the scleral cell strain. The scleral cell strain can produce a satisfactory number of cells and has a steady, unstopped proliferation ability, and therefore can be used advantageously for the elucidation of the cause of an ophthalmic disease such as scleritis or the development of a prophylactic or/and therapeutic agent for an ophthalmic disease. The cell strain is also quite useful for the biochemical/physiological study on a sclera or the study on cell differentiation mechanism, and has the possibility for being used as a biomaterial for an artificial sclera. |
