abstract A sliding member that maintains its wear resistance over a prolonged period of time, excelling in durability. There is provided low-wear sliding member (10) used in wet environment, including base material (12) constituted of a polymer material having a methylene group and, covering sliding surface (16) of the base material (12), polymer film (30), characterized in that the polymer film (30) is constituted of a polymer chain having a phosphorylcholine group graft bonded to the sliding surface (16), and that the sliding surface (16) has a phosphate index (in infrared spectroscopic spectrum, peak intensity of phosphate group/peak intensity of methylene group) of 0.28 or greater.
