Circular dichroism fluorescent microscope |
abstract |
A circular dichroism fluorescent microscope (100) has a cofocal portion (115), and a light beam from a light source (103) is passed through a circular polarizing/modulating section (105) to produce right and left circularly polarized light beams. A sample is irradiated with right and left circularly polarized light beams that are condensed on it, fluorescence radiated from the sample is condensed through an optical lens (102), only fluorescence having a predetermined wavelength is transmitted by a wavelength selecting section (107) and the transmitted fluorescence is detected. Since the circular dichroism fluorescent microscope (100) calculates the difference in intensity between fluorescence radiated from the sample when it is irradiated with right circularly polarized light and fluorescence radiated from the sample when it is irradiated with left circularly polarized light based on a fluorescence intensity signal, high order structure of a sample of biological molecule such as protein in a living body can be analyzed directly from a small quantity of sample. |
