abstract A gas-generating device (1) which comprises a cup (3) filled with gas generators (2) and (7), which generate gases upon combustion, and an igniter (4) which is disposed inside the cup (3) and in which an igniting agent (10) is disposed. The gas generator (2) is a smokeless low explosive comprising nitrocellulose as a major ingredient, while the gas generator (7) is a low explosive comprising a fuel agent comprising a guanidine derivative and/or a tetrazole derivative and an oxidizing agent comprising a metal nitrate and/or a perchloric acid salt. This gas-generating device can be made to generate a smaller amount of CO gas when it works, and can facilitate the control of burning rate. Also provided is a pretensioner system employing the gas-generating device.
