abstract A novel device and method for imaging a luminous phenomenon of a sample originating from an organism by using an optical device. According to the device and method, an illumination image captured by illuminating a sample and a luminance image captured by light emitted by the luminous phenomenon of a cell in the sample without illuminating the sample are combined to create a combination image. An analysis area is specified on the combination image. With this, even if the light detected by luminance observation is feeble, the luminous cell or a luminous part in a cell of a sample can be identified.
