titleOfInvention Method for producing optically active n-(3-halo-2-hydroxypropyl)phthalimide
abstract Disclosed is a method for producing an optically active N-(2,3-epoxypropyl)phthalimide wherein N-(3-chloro-2- hydroxypropyl)phthalimide is produced by reacting phthalimide and an optically active epihalohydrin in the presence of a tertiary amine, and then the thus-produced N-(3-chloro-2- hydroxypropyl)phthalimide is treated with an alkali metal alkoxide. Consequently, there can be efficiently produced an optically active N-(3-halo-2- hydroxypropyl)phthalimide and an optically active N-(2,3-epoxypropyl)phthalimide, which are respectively useful as an intermediate for pharmaceutical and agricultural chemical products.
