A biological nerve guide for implantation into a human body is made by a method that includes the steps of providing a natural animal tissue membrane, crosslinking and fixing the membrane, minimizing the antigens from the membrane, tanning the membrane, and coupling an active layer to the inner surface of the membrane, cutting the membrane into desired shape and size, positioning the cut of membrane onto a rod-shape mold so that the cut of membrane assumes a cylindrical configuration, and attaching a spiral support (2) to the outer surface of the cut of membrane. |
