titleOfInvention Selection markers for net feed intake
abstract The present invention provides single nuclear polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with net feed intake (NFI) of an animal at positions 251 of the nucleotide sequences set forth as SEQ ID NOs: 1-124, and complementary sequences and fragments of said sequences comprising the SNPs. A a plurality of the SNPs in linkage disequilibrium have been assigned chromosome coordinates on syntenous regions of the human and bovine chromosome genomes, to thereby provide contiguous chromosome segments comprising cluster groups of SNPs. The present invention also provides nucleic acids comprising the individual SNPs, clusters of SNPs, and complementary nucleic acids and hybridizing thereto, and methods of using the nucleic acids in the detection and/or selection and/or breeding of animals having improved feed conversion effiency as breeding stock or for meat production.
