titleOfInvention HIGHLY CRYSTALLINE HIGHER α-OLEFIN POLYMER AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF
abstract The invention provides a highly crystalline higher α-olefin polymer which is excellent in the compatibility with thermoplastic resins, particularly polyolefins, lubricating oils, fuel oils, or waxes, the blendability with inorganic fillers, and fabricability; and a process for the production of the polymer. A highly crystalline higher α-olefin polymer which is obtained by polymerizing a monomer component comprising at least 80 % by mole of a higher α-olefin having 22 to 40 carbon atoms and satisfies the following requirements (1) and (2): (1) the melting point (Tm) is 55 to 100°C as determined on the basis of a melting endothermic curve obtained by using a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), holding a sample in a nitrogen atmosphere at 190°C for 5 minutes, lowering the temperature of the sample to -10°C at a rate of 5°C/min, holding the sample at -10°C for 5 minutes, and then increasing the temperature to 190°C at a rate of 10°C/min and (2) the weight average molecular weight (Mw) in terms of polystyrene is 1,000 to 5,000,000 as determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC), the molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) being 5.0 or below.
