The invention relates to the use of behavior-modifying, preferably organic compounds having repellent, deterring and inhibitory effects for substantially reducing the infestation of woody plants, especially in chestnut (Aesculus) and acorn (Acer) varieties with parasites, especially chestnut leaf miner (Cameraria ohridella) and acorn leaf miner. The preferably organic compounds are emitted either by herbivorous arthropods and their accompanying microorganisms or by infested leaves of the horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) and can be obtained from the same. |
