titleOfInvention Novel aromatic acyl group transferase gene
abstract It is intended to provide: a protein having an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 or an amino acid sequence derived therefrom by modification and having an activity of transferring an aromatic acyl group to a sugar residue of a flavonoid; a gene encoding the same, in particular, a cDNA; and a use thereof. By, for example, transferring the above-described gene into a plant having hydroxycinnamic acid 1-O-glucosyl group transferase gene expressed therein or transferring together with a cDNA encoding a protein having an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:14, 16 or 18 or an amino acid sequence derived therefrom by modification and having an activity of glucosylating the hydroxyl group at the 1-position of hydroxycinnamic acid and then expressing the gene, a sugar residue of a flavonoid in a flower of the plant can be acylated and thus a blue color can be imparted to the flower.
