A lead storage battery for use in a half-charged condition of over 70% to below 100% charging rate, comprising a battery case and, accommodated therein, a polar plate assembly composed of a multiplicity of positive electrode plates and negative electrode plates having grid plates loaded with positive electrode active materials and negative electrode active materials, respectively, the positive electrode plates and negative electrode plates laminated with a porous retainer mat interposed therebetween, wherein an electrolytic solution is injected so as to impregnate the polar plate assembly therewith, thereby effecting chemical treatment. The electrolytic solution contains at least one of aluminum ion, selenium ion and titanium ion. |
