abstract A method for making high quality films from polycarbonate resins is described. The method involves the steps of making and isolating a polycarbonate resin using an activated carbonate melt polymerization process; forming a solution of the polycarbonate resin in an organic solvent, solvent casting the polycarbonate resin solution and then removing the organic solvent in a controlled manner to form a polycarbonate resin film. The use of these films in various applications is also described.
