abstract |
The invention aims at providing a catalyst for the production of ethylene and propylene from raw hydrocarbon by catalytic conversion which attains efficient, easy and stable production thereof in high yields over a long period. The invention relates to a process for the production of ethylene and propylene which comprises bringing raw hydrocarbon containing at least 20% by mass of olefins of 4 to 12 carbon atoms into contact with a zeolite-containing molded catalyst satisfying the following requirements (1) to (4) in a reactor to conduct catalytic conversion of the olefins: (1) the zeolite is an intermediate-pore-diameter one having pore diameters of 5 to 6.5Å, (2) the zeolite is substantially free from protons, (3) the zeolite contains at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Group IB metals of the periodic table, and (4) the zeolite has a silica/alumina (SiO2/Al2O3) mole ratio of 800 to 2,000. |
