abstract A heat pack system (10) includes an inductive charging unit (12), a heat pack (14), and a pack cover (16). The inductive charging unit (12) has an antenna for emitting magnetic energy. The heat pack (14) includes two layers of a heat retaining elastomeric material (48) with an energizing layer of material (50) sandwiched between the layers of elastomeric material (48). The heat pack (14) may include an RFID tag (52) and an RTD lead (54) for reading the temperature of the energizing layer (50) and communicating this information to the RFID reader (86) of the inductive charging unit (12) in order to heat the heat pack (14) inductively. The pack cover (16) is made of a washable material and is configured to enclose the heat pack (14) therewithin. A chemical compound for forming the elastomeric layers (14) is also described, as is a method for manufacturing a heat pack (14).
